JANUARY PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

by Lisa DelPiccolo

Happy New Year!!  As we turn the corner into 2019, it’s time to reflect on the past year’s accomplishments and set goals for the coming year.

Since the Annual Conference in October, the Executive Board has been working to set the committee chairs, vice chairs and members.   All appointments are set, and now we move onto determining the 2019 budget and setting the education programs for 2019.  I think I speak for everyone when I say that we’re anxious to get going.

The first Education Committee and Conference Committee meetings are scheduled for January 24, and the Executive Board will hold the annual Transition Meeting on January 25.   All meetings will be held at Arvada City Hall, and detailed agendas will be available soon.

Many applications were received from clerks interested in serving on committees, and we were able to place everyone on at least one committee of their choosing.  The Executive Board would appreciate any feedback you have on the new application process.

The membership approved changes to the bylaws in 2018, and we now need to update the handbook to match.  We’ve also had some discussion about streamlining the handbook in an effort to make it more useful to the membership and less cumbersome to update.

We’re very excited to begin putting details in place for the 2019 Annual Conference in Durango on October 15-18.   Durango is a unique, beautiful, historic, and fun host City.

Our ultimate goal is to have a record number of members in attendance at all of the education programs.  If budget constraints are an issue, please looking scholarship opportunities through IIMC, CMCA and CIRSA.

The 2020 Annual Conference will be hosted by the City of Greeley.  The Executive Board has set a goal of determining the locations for 2021-2023 within the next year.  If you’d like to be a host clerk, watch for details on the application process in the near future.

As always, the Executive Board welcomes all comments, ideas, and suggestions, and we encourage you to attend the CMCA board meetings if you can. We’re here to represent you and make CMCA the best it can be.
