I’m finding that the 2019 Annual Conference theme, “All Aboard, Full Steam Ahead,” is a fitting theme for this entire year.
We’re loading up the train. We’ve got our committees set, we’ve got an excellent institute director, and a new conference coordinator. But the Executive Board and the Membership Committee want to make sure no clerk is left behind. If you know of a new clerk please let us know. We want to provide a warm welcome including a list of resources for all clerks regardless of CMCA membership.
One of the most valuable resources is the Clerk Advisor Program offered through a collaborative effort by CMCA, Colorado Municipal League and CIRSA. Any clerk in need of assistance can contact Karen Goldman for one-on-one guidance. Please help us spread the word about this incredible resource, for a new clerk or any clerk in need of a helping hand.
Full Steam Ahead!
Also on board are PDO Coordinators and instructors. PDO sessions are already set for several content areas, including marijuana licensing, records management, and elections. The first Athenian Dialogue of the year will be hosted by the City of Thornton.
Institute Director Kathie Novak is putting the details in place for the Institute for Municipal Clerks July 6-12, 2019. Planning for the Annual Conference in Durango is also moving ahead. The Conference Committee is meeting regularly to plan unique educational sessions and activities. Again, we want to make sure no clerk is left behind. Contact a member of the Scholarship Committee for information on Institute and Annual Conference scholarships.
The Legislative Committee is also on board monitoring happenings at the State Capitol that could impact the role of the municipal clerk. We’re fortunate to have them watching out for us and keeping us informed.
Another way to make sure everyone is on board is to maximize our communication tools, namely the website, Communique and the CMCA Facebook page. We’d love to hear your ideas for articles and items to post.
